What Do We Treat?
No single therapist can treat every condition effectively. Each of the therapists included on this site focus their practice on areas of expertise. Clinicians associated with Anxiety Ottawa specifically offer treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Excoriation Disorder (skin picking) and Trichotillomania (hair pulling), Hoarding Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Tourette's and Tic-Related Disorders, Anxiety-Related Disorders (panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, phobias), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, and Bipolar Disorder. Take a look at the 'Our Therapists' page to see which specific conditions each therapist treats in their practice.
What Makes Us Different?
Many of the clients we see in treatment have stories about spending years in therapy that was ultimately unhelpful. Usually, these treatments lacked a detailed diagnostic assessment, a solid case conceptualization, a specific treatment plan, or the active behavioural elements that are important to achieving recovery. Each of the therapists included on this site have received advanced training in the treatment of their areas of expertise. To learn more about the conditions we each treat and the treatment interventions we use, visit the 'Our Therapists' and 'Evidence-Based Treatment' pages.
What Is Our Treatment Approach?
We use Cognitive Behavioural Treatments that are explicitly recommended to reduce symptoms and increase quality of life. But this means a lot of things! Many people aren't aware that CBT is an umbrella term and consists of many treatment approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Schema Therapy... the list goes on!
